It involves the use of small, glass or silicon cups, to create a vacuum, lifting the superficial layers of tissue so that fresh blood can get to the deeper layers. Cupping is the quickest, easiest way to hydrate tissue that is dehydrated. Very light cupping aids and encourages the flow of the lymphatic system, which when sluggish, can cause toxins and other waste material to build up in the tissues. Cupping pulls inflammation out of the body without adding to it, as it opens the pores, which release heat.

Cupping is very beneficial for people with high blood pressure, chronic headaches, fibromyalgia, and neuralgia.

The suction action also pulls localalized toxins out of the body through the skin. This can leave what is known as a “cup kiss”, which is NOT a bruise. Depending on what kind of debris the musculature is holding onto, the color could range in reddish hue from a very light pink to dark purple, and can be comprised of dead blood cells, old lymph, or toxins. It could also appear yellow from old medicines stored in the body or gray from first or second hand smoke. Cup kisses can last anywhere from a few hours to a few days before they gradually fade away.
