ULTRASOUND THERAPY (Sonotherapy)

Ultrasound therapy (US) is the use of sound waves above the range of human hearing to treat musculoskeletal problems, especially inflammation (tendinitis, bursitis). It is most widely employed by physical therapists, and has been an extremely popular therapy since the 1950s. There are many flavours of therapeutic ultrasound, using different intensities and frequencies of sound, but all share the basic principle of “stimulating” tissue with sound waves.
