The supragingival scaling consists of professional cleaning the teeth which means removal of hard dental deposits (tartar) that gather on the surface of tooth crowns, with help of ultrasonic devices, so called scalers.
At Indexmedica clinic, we use scalers that allow us effective and quick cleaning of the teeth surface and at the same time they are completely safe for the patient.
Scaling is usually painless, only in case of inflammation of the tissues surrounding the tooth discomfort can occur - in this case, a local anesthetic is administered.
At the end of each scaling procedure follows polishing of all cleaned surfaces. This prevents re-accumulation of plaque and provides the patient a pleasant feeling of smooth teeth. After professional teeth cleaning it is advisable to use fluoride varnishes which help to protect teeth against decay and oversensitivity.
Sandblasting is a treatment of sludge removal and discolorations of tooth crowns being the result of smoking or drinking coffee and tea. To perform the sandblasting are used air-powder devices which, after mixed very fine powder with air throw under high pressure a thin stream of the mixture on the surface of the tooth, effectively eliminating deposits and discolorations that you can not get rid of by using just a toothbrush.
